◊ 1:00pm – 3:00pm: PDHA Academy of Dental Hygiene Studies Luncheon
The Academy Board of Directors would like to invite all Academy members to join us for this year’s Academy lunch. Do you wonder which component had the most new members join this year? Who had the most CE credits this year? And how
many CEs they had? We have many new members so please join us for a renewing of our Academy pride and to support the
new members. The lunch served will be Marinated Grilled Chicken Breast with a Pineapple Salsa served with fresh garden
greens. A fee will be charged for the luncheon.
◊ 6:15pm – 7:30pm: Professional Issues Forum
Come and learn what is happening in the world of dental hygiene that can affect you as a practicing dental hygienist.
◊ 7:45pm – 9:15pm: Sightseeing Tour of Pittsburgh
Relax and enjoy a narrated night tour of Pittsburgh, highlighting the city’s magnificent array of museums, rivers and historic
landmarks. The Pittsburgh city tour contains historical information, interesting facts about famous Pittsburgh products,
companies and people. Also, ride on the Duquesne Incline and enjoy the magnificent view of the city. (Minimum
registrants required)
◊ 8:00pm – 10:00pm: Welcome Reception
The Western Component is very excited and proud to host the 85th PDHA Annual Session. The Annual Session Committee extends an invitation to join them for a drop-in reception.

◊ 8:45am Corporate Recognition Ceremony
A ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place to open the Corporate Exhibits & Marketplace. Come and help recognize the
corporate representatives whose continued support of dental hygiene goes above and beyond expectations.
◊ 9:00am – 12noon: Corporate Exhibits
An exposition floor filled with the products, services and solutions covering the entire dental hygiene profession awaits you
at Corporate Exhibits. Whether it is impulse buying or you have come prepared to “shop the show,” these companies are
ready to present their latest innovations for your needs and to provide you with well fitted solutions – Get inspired. Get
educated! Please patronize these fine exhibitors and let them know we appreciate their continued support of dental hygiene.
◊ 9:00am – 12noon: Marketplace
Have cash burning in your pocket? Do we have the place for you!! Come shop ‘til you drop at PDHA’s Marketplace.
Individuals, components and students will be selling many items for you to purchase.
If you are interested in selling items at Marketplace and did not receive information, please contact Margie at PDHA’s Central Office 717-766-0334.
◊ 8:30am – 10:00am and 10:30am – 12:00noon Student Table Clinics
Students from PA dental hygiene schools will be presenting valuable information. Many hours of research and planning have
gone into the presentations. The students will be judged and awards will be given. Please come, listen and learn what they
have to share. Attend three Table Clinics and receive 1 free continuing education credit. CE cards for Table Clinics will
be available at the door. Presenters will stamp the card at the completion of each presentation. Cards must be turned in as
you exit to receive your certification.
◊ 6:30pm – 11:30pm: President’s Cocktail Reception & Dinner
As always, our President’s banquet is the social highlight of the conference. This year will be no exception. 2008 is a great
year to celebrate your ADHA/PDHA membership with bold colors and our bold ADHA logo. Plan on joining your PDHA
team in celebrating dental hygiene’s “Passion for Prevention” by wearing passionate RED colors to honor our 2008 President Jaclyn Gleber with an evening of feasting, fun, and dancing to DJ Larry Hornyak. So plan to relax, enjoy a dinner buffet and have fun together on Friday night in the hotel--no travel required!
◊Silent Auction: during the Cocktail Reception
Get ready for another exciting Penn Hy-PAC silent auction. Many items have once again been donated to the auction. This
is a great way to support Penn Hy-PAC.

◊ 1:00pm – 1:30pm Keynote Address“Access to Prevention” Dental hygiene is in a unique position to seize new opportunities and utilize our full potential providing 'access to prevention' while patients seek to maintain and improve their quality of healthcare. There is a paradigm shift occurring in the delivery of oral healthcare that will serve to keep pricing and accessibility reasonable. Prevention is Key. Are dental hygienists ready for the challenge? Tammi O. Byrd, RDH, will deliver an inspiring message to all. By attending this presentation, you will receive 1 free continuing education credit.

◊ 2:00pm – 5:00pm: Pre-Board of Trustees Meeting
The Board of Trustees is the governing body of PDHA. The BOT will review the proposed resolutions and bylaw changes
to be presented to the House of Delegates.

◊ 9:00am – 12:30pm: Opening Session/First House of Delegates
Jaclyn Gleber, RDH, EdD, will officially call the 85th Annual Session of the Pennsylvania Dental Hygienists’ Association to
order at the Opening Session. President Gleber will welcome all attendees and will oversee an awards presentation to fellow
colleagues. These inspirational proceedings should be attended by all registered dental hygienists at least once in their career.
◊ 3:30pm - 5:00pm: Reference Committee Hearings & PDHA Candidates Forum
These hearings focus on the specific business submitted for consideration to the House of Delegates (HOD) in the areas of
association policy, bylaws, and directives. Delegates and members alike may submit testimony, written or verbal, regarding
their positions on the various proposals, including suggested amendments. Reference committee members, appointed by the
President, listen and record testimony, then develop final recommendations which are then forwarded to the HOD.
Candidates for President-Elect, Vice President, and Delegate/Alternate Delegate to ADHA will address their peers on the
current issues in dental hygiene especially as they relate to Pennsylvania. This forum is an opportunity for all to ask the future leaders of PDHA about their visions for our profession.

◊ 1:45pm – 4:30pm: Second House of Delegates
This session of the House of Delegates includes final voting on all submitted business and recommendations from the reference committees. Delegates have the opportunity to debate resolutions as well as amend proposals. Discussion, debate, and voting are restricted to voting delegates only; however, members are invited to attend this session as guests and observers.
◊ 4:30pm –5:30pm: Installation of Officers and Installation Reception
The elected officers of PDHA and appointed council chairs will be formally installed.

The PDHA Board of Trustees will review the actions of the House of Delegates.
